There are enough features to the site now that we get a fair number of questions about how things work, what things mean, etc. This FAQ will attempt to answer most of those questions for you. It also contains a decent amount of tutorial info so take a quick scan through the topics.
How do the ITA Rankings work?How do the ITA Rankings work?
At a high level the ITA Rankings are based off the strength of your top wins and all of your losses. Each week a certain number of wins count toward your ranking and all your losses always count. You get points for each win (and deductions for each loss) based on the rank of the opponent from the previous week. For a detailed explanation see Rankings Explained.
Where does the all the schedule and result data come from?
We consider the ITA site to be the gospel since that is the data that the ITA themselves will use to perform the ranking calculations. Hence, we try to keep up with things as they get entered on the ITA site.
Why doesn't an upcoming match from a teams schedule show up on CTR?
We reflect everything that has been entered on the ITA site. Sometimes teams don't load all of their scheduled matches on the ITA site in advance, in which case we will be missing them until they enter a result. If you see that happening ask the schools in question to get their schedules entered in the ITA system so we will see them and present them in our schedules, What-If Calculator, etc.
What is the Week Ahead page?
The Week Ahead page shows all matches we have gotten schedules for from the ITA site that will take place in the next 7 days. If the match was for the current day and we have already recorded a result it will be shown with a link to the match result on the ITA site. Keep in mind that in general we try to update the results once a day but there is no real time sync with the ITA site so we will always be behind. The date that we last sync'd up with the ITA schedules is listed at the top of the page separately for both Men and Women. The match list is sorted by the highest ranking team involved in the match so that the matches most likely to impact rankings will appear at the top. Any teams currently ranking in the ITA Top 25 will appear in bold.
What is the Week Behind page?
The Week Behind page shows all matches from the past 7 days that we have schedules or results for from the ITA site. If we have a result, the score will be shown with a link to the match result on the ITA site. What are the CTR Live Rankings?
The CTR Live Rankings reflect our up to date rankings that would be how we would vote in a poll if we were to vote today. These are not computer rankings or intended to model the ITA rankings in any way. As results occur throughout the week this we update these rankings to reflect our current view.
Where do I find roster/player information for a team?
If you view a team from either the CTR Live Rankings or the Current ITA Rankings you can click on a team to get detailed information including our projected lineup with UTRs as well as the coaching staff. If there is no information shown for a team you follow and you would like to see it added just messge us on Twitter and ask us to add it, we'll get right on it.
What are the Projected Rankings?
The Projected Rankings show what we believe the next ITA Rankings will look like based on current rankings and results. This is our projection based on what we believe the current unpublished #51 - #125 teams are. The projected rankings will show the date of the next rankings as well as the time we last updated results. We are working on a help page that will explain all of the items on the page in depth as this page is packed with tons of information.
