M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel return to She and Him this summer with the release of Volume 3. Due out May 7th via Merge, the followup to 2010’s Volume 2 spans 14 tracks — 11 Deschanel originals and three covers — and was produced by M. Ward and recorded in Los Angeles, Portland, and New York.
According to a press release, the album “features some of the most dynamic, complex songs Deschanel has ever written, allowing for tempo shifts, disco grooves, string arrangements on multiple tracks, and horn flourishes that perfectly suit the She & Him sound.” Guest contributors include NRBQ’s Joey Spampinato, Mike Watt, Tilly and the Wall, Pierre de Reeder from Rilo Kiley, and Tom Hagerman from Devotchka.
In support of the album’s release, the magnificent duo will hit the road come June, playing shows alongside Emmylou Harris and Camera Obscura. Consult both the tracklist and the tour itinerary below.
