Flathub Beta repository

warning

The Flathub Beta repository primarily serves as a testing ground for alpha and beta versions of applications. As a result, it may include unstable, experimental versions of applications. Please proceed with caution when using using this.

Apart from the primary stable repository above, Flathub also has beta repository that applications sometime use to serve secondary versions.

This can be added with:

flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub-beta https://flathub.org/beta-repo/flathub-beta.flatpakrepo

To install applications from the beta repository:

flatpak install flathub-beta <app-id>

Both stable and beta branches can be installed for an application. To switch between branches while running:

flatpak run --branch=<beta|stable> <app-id>

Subsets

Image for: Subsets

In the case, that you only want a specific subset of apps, you can use the --subset option when adding the Flathub remote. You will only be able to install apps from the subset you specified.

Only allow verified apps, if adding a new remote:

flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists --subset=verified flathub-verified https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo

Or, if you already have the remote added, you can change the subset:

flatpak remote-modify --subset=verified flathub

The available subsets are:

TypeDescription
verifiedOnly allow verified apps
flossOnly allow apps that are free and open source software
verified_flossOnly allow apps that are verified and free and open source software

Remove subsets

To remove a subset and return to the unfiltered repository, you can run:

flatpak remote-modify --subset= flathub

Or remove the remote:

flatpak remote-delete --force flathub

and add it again without the subset:

flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
