Control contrast for all GitHub themes
Enhanced contrast settings! 💻
GitHub is committed to being the home for all developers, and that means ensuring our platform is accessible and inclusive for everyone. Today, we’re providing improved contrast settings that make GitHub more user-friendly for everyone, whether you’re logged in, logged out, or just browsing for the first time.
What’s new 💡
Contrast settings for logged-out users ⚙️
You no longer need to be logged in to control UI contrast! Simply click the new Appearance settings button in the top navigation bar to customize your visual experience. This ensures that first-time visitors and logged-out users can enjoy a more accessible GitHub.
More options for logged-in users 🔆
Logged-in users can now enable increased contrast on any theme in the Appearance section of their user settings. Any existing preferences will remain in place and can now be customized further, with separated theme and contrast options.
Why this matters ❤️
Accessibility is at the heart of great design, and these updates represent a significant step forward in creating a more inclusive GitHub for everyone. We’re making it easier than ever to tailor our platform to individual needs, from reducing eye strain to improving readability.
