Maxim Germany 2001 Reporter: You sing "Like ice in the sunshine" and advertise with it for ice. But it seems that you'd rather do it without this 'bigmaker'. Anastacia: No, Ilove ice. Usually Iorder vanilla, coffee or strawberry. But Ionly take one flavour, never mixed ones. Reporter: Is the summer your favourite season? Anastacia: Of course. I love the sun. After all I live in California. You can do more when it's warm and you feel better. Reporter: And you can wear cool sunglasses ... Anastacia: I must wear glasses anyway because I'm short- as well as long-sighted. Without glasses I'm almost blind. But i like glasses. And above all sunglasses. I think that now I have about 40 pair. But on tour I have only 15 with me. In my own bag. Reporter: But there are contact lenses. Anastacia: Many people don't like glasses but I've liked it since Iwas a child. Already in the fourth class Igot one my nose. That way: I got used to wearing glasses. Now it is my trademark. Reporter: But you have a boyfriend. Don�t you hit his face permanently with ur frame when u kiss him? Anastacia: That could happen but during the years I had developed myself, and now I'm an expert. It's all about how you hold your head. And u have to avoid spontaneous movements. Well, most of the time Itake the glasses of when I kiss with my boyfriend Shawn. And I also take then off when I sleep or when I'm under the shower. Reporter: Are you really so self-confident? How you do that? When you were a child you are were surely often teased for ur unusual name? Anastacia: About my name and my glasses I never had anyone laughed. Probably because they realized that I felt absolutly good. I was never weak. My mother had selected my name because she found it such a beautiful name. I have european roots. My father is German and my mother is Irish. Reporter: Your father had left the family when you were four years old. With 14 you got Crohn's disease. That doesn't sound so good. Anastacia: That makes me to a powerful woman. And when I feel bad, my mother and my boyfriend are scared because I travel around the whole world and I don't see them very often, but we call every day. Reporter: And your father? Do you still have contact? Anastacia: No, there's no reason for us to talk or meet. I never had a father and that's why I don't miss him. I�m also strong without him because I have a fantastic mother. Reporter: You say that your father is German. Do you have any other connections to Germany? Anastacia: No, not really. I don't have exact information about my history. But I like Germany very much. Because the public's moved really by my music. And finally, I won an award for my debut album at this year's ECHO awards. Reporter: Why did you become a popstar when you were 27? Others were there quicker... Anastacia: The record company's don't know what market I fit in. A white person with a black voice. I don't suit the usual markets. Now they search music-multi's like me. Reporter: How do you spend your free time when you are on tour? Sport, sight-seeing? Anastacia: Often with shopping. I don�t do sport but recently I try to do a frequent a work-out.
