John Fogerty at the Albert Hall

I went to the Albert Hall to see an 'evening with John Fogerty' and was taken by surprise to find that the concert was being recorded for a DVD. Its only a couple of years since he released a very good one called the Long Way Home which covered all his old hits.

This meant that the lights were kept on all the time, John went off stage numerous times including one for a 'costume change' when he is hardly Madonna and came back with another denim shirt on. Worst of all though was the use of friends, relatives and probably road crew to form an adoring crowd who rushed the stage after the first song and stayed there the rest of the concert. They proceeded to act as if they were at the second coming of the Beatles with Elvis, Bruce Springsteen and the Clash as the backing singers. One particular numpty dressed in Creedence like check shirt and a dead ringer for Michael Moore even created his own little dance for Rocking all over the World.

The concert ran over because of all the messing around and so by the end the RAH was half full, people were booing and thoroughly pissed off. I doubt if anyone there will buy the DVD which doubtless will be edited to show some fantastic show and an adoring audience.

I was wondering if others had the experience of being at a concert that was also turned into a DVD and if so was it as bad as what happened at this concert.

That's difficult to excuse

I read on his website that they flew a film crew over from Los Angeles to shoot it because it's a well known fact that the best film crews in the world can't be found in London. Oh hang on. I hope they lose their shirts.

Bowie and the Boss

I was at the gigs for Springsteen's Live In Dublin effort and Bowie's last live dvd and thankfully, you wouldn't have known they were recording it unless you were told

You were unfortunate, son...

that Fogerty, eh? Thought he was a man of the people and all that...

Was there the other night too and it was diabolical!

KGB above writes fair comment on the John Fogerty concert. The presence and workings of the film crew were really very invasive and a true concert atmospere was never attained. In effect we the audience were secondary to the primary purpose of making the film! My tickets cost £50 each for my wife and I pluse £3.50 processing fee. I have written to the promotersand asked for my money back! I have been seeing live music for over 40 years and this is a first! I saw Creedence 37 years ago and they were wonderful - the whole Albert hall was chooglin'. I am convinced the sound was better then too. It was a sad and disapointing evening!
