EXCLUSIVE: I’ve learned that Rhona Mitra is finalizing a deal to land the new female lead on Cinemax’s Strike Back in the action drama’s upcoming 10-episode second season. She will play the beautiful, cunning and ultimately ruthless Capt. Rachel Dalton of the British military who is offered the position of head of Section 20 after a long stint working in North Africa. Mitra’s character is expected to fill the void left by the demise of Amanda Mealing’s Col. Eleanor Grant in the first season finale of Strike Back. The series, whose second season is slated to begin filming soon in South Africa, is produced by Cinemax/HBO, Left Bank and Sky, which airs the series in the U.K. Strike Back stars Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester. Season 1 told the story of a charismatic former U.S. Special Forces operative (Stapleton) who joins with a stealth British military unit when a resourceful international terrorist group plots a major attack. British-born Mitra, whose series credits include The Practice, Boston Legal and Nip/Tuck, is repped by Gersh, Untitled and UK’s Ken McReddie.

Awesome show.
Spoiler for anyone who hasn’t seen the end of the first season.
The show’s season finale was October 21st. A spoiler over two months later? Watch the damn show already.
I have seen it, but I was saying it was a spoiler for those who haven’t.And I don’t know how much time you think must adequately pass for something not to be considered a spoiler, but 2 months is nowhere near enough time. And not everyone is able to watch a series when it is currently on the air.
Hi,
You forgot the thing she’s most noted for, as being the real-life model-embodiment of Lara Croft before the Angelina Jolie movies!
Kind regards,

Not that I don’t appreciate shows like this but mainly due to my age I have a hard time watching them and especially this show because it is NOT shit (I try but eventually the “close to reality” violence overwhelms me). I would have devoured shows like this 20 years ago. Still, this could be interesting. Don’t get enough of Rhona.
So, you’ve been sensitized instead of desensitized by all the on-screen violence out there in popular culture? I’m curious to know why. Did you just age out of that kind of thing? For most of us, life grows more precious with each passing year. So, I can see how realistic violence might seem offensive and cheap to someone. The same thing could happen for those who live with the results of violence. Do cops like action movies where cops get shot? Do combat veterans enjoy cinematic death? How about ambulance medics and ER nurses?

Really loved the show. Plus, my brother is an ex-marine and told me that their military depictions are spot on – nice attention to detail in a genre that traditions stretches things.
Hot action, hot chicks and (for the ladies) hot dudes. Winning!
A few months ago, I was surprised to learn there’s a whole other six-episode season of STRIKE BACK that aired in the UK before it was revamped for Cinemax. I enjoy the recent season for its cheesy virtues, though I often found myself distracted by things such as surfing Deadline while I watched it. Ergo, not as gripping/arresting/transfixing as it could be. Still, I’ll watch the next season, but I can’t say I’d pursue the UK-only first season. I’m sure others might want to check it out.
Aren’t there 9 seasons of Strike Back already aired in the UK? Or are there two shows with the same name? Richard Armitage stars(red) in it.
oh, wait, I’m thinking of Spooks. Richard Armitage was in both shows.
I have never worked with a more self-serving, manipulative, nightmare than Rhona Mitra. Good luck. You’re going to need it.
Ha! What part of ‘cunning and ultimately ruthless’ did you miss in the character description? She was clearly born for this role! Show is brilliant and this is a wonderful addition. Can’t wait!
EXCELLENT NEWS!
I love Rhona, in fact I’ll love this show.
There was a six-episode series of Strike Back in the UK, starring Richard Armitage. Armitage appears in episode one of the Cinemax series, getting killed off to push the plot of the new iteration. The UK version was quite a bit of fun to watch; different in tone from the Cinemax version but enjoyable.
I will watch Rhona in anything. She is hot and always delivers.
This show is sick. Loved every minute of every episode. I hope Rhona doesn’t ruin it.
The show is fantastic; I was wondering what would be done about the female lead considering how that character died in that explosion; I have seen Miss Mitra in one of the “Evolution” werewolf movies and I’ll be curious to see what she can bring to the table in this role. Whatever you do, keep those writers.
I don’t know where you were but I worked on that show every day and the whole crew loved her. The show was a debaucal because of absent lazy producers and god awful scripts. no one worked harder than her. Take your chip elsewhere. The girls a gem with a brain who probably refeused to get on her knees for you. And if that makes her a nightmare that makes you a pitiful cliche.
very nice People Rhona Mitra!!!
When is season 2 of Strikeback going to start?
